Just in front of the Pere Tarrés Youth Hostel, one of the cheapest accommodation in Barcelona, you can take the bus route 43 which leaves you next to the gates of the catholic temple. The expiatory church of La Sagrada Família, still in construction, is considered the best representative example of the Catalan modernism architecture. The design of the high-raised circular conic towers projected on the facades is one of Gaudí’s innovative ideas. Once built, the church will have 18 towers, four on each facade. The expiatory church of La Sagrada Família is part of UNESCO World Heritage since 2005.
The Park Güell is a garden designed by Gaudí and located in the muntanya Pelada (Colina del Carmel). The park is known for its striking architectural elements as well as for the wonderful panoramic view of Barcelona. On the steps of the park there is the structure of the salamander that has become the Park Güell and of the city.
It's a Gothic church located in the Born district. The basilica consists of a solid and austere silhouette that contrasts with a light, spacious and decorated interior. Santa Maria del Mar has three naves supported and separated by rows of tall, slender columns ending in a spectacular groin vault which, combined with high colored stained-glass windows, turn the church into an architectonic wonder.

Casa Milà, also known as ‘La Pedrera’ (The Quarry), is a modernist building designed by Gaudí and located in Passeig de Gràcia. You can get to La Pedrera with the Metro green line from Maria Cristina station which is just two minutes away from the cheap accommodation in Barcelona Pere Tarrés Hostel. La Pedrera is regarded as a groundbreaking work thanks to some of its characteristics such as the column structure and the storeys built with no load-bearing walls. The roof is an outstanding part of the building which is crowned by ventilators, chimneys and staircase exits covered of ceramic, marble and glass mosaic. You can visit the roof, the brick-arched attic were you will find “L’Espai Gaudí” and the upper apartment that recreates the bourgeois life of the modernist period. The hall, the noble floor where temporal exhibitions are held and the auditorium located in the basement are also opened to visitors. La Barceloneta is the marine district that portrays a town atmosphere, very similar to the atmosphere of les Corts district where our cheap accommodation hostel in Barcelona is located. The beach is one of the liveliest in town with beach stalls and pubs where you can go to have a nice dinner or some drinks. The district narrow streets are the home to some of the best fish restaurants in Barcelona. The Palau del Mar, where the History Museum of Catalonia is located, or the Clock Tower, the oldest building in the area, are a must-see while you wander through the district narrow streets before you come back to the Pere Tarrés Hostel.
Is the marina located just in front of the Vila Olímpica. The esplanade is full of restaurants, sidewalk cafés, hotels and shopping centers like Maremagnum, with a wide range of leisure. Nearby, you will find the Aquarium of Barcelona with all kind of marine species and where you can also enjoy watching the divers feeding the sharks or the dolphin show. One of the most symbols of the port is the MAPFRE Towers which are two of the tallest buildings in Spain.
The Picasso Museum houses a permanent collection of 3,800 works of the Malaga painter and offers an extensive program of temporary exhibitions. Located in Montcada street, Barcelona, the museum shows us the career of the international painter and delves into the specific aspects of Picasso’s work as well as the artists and movements of the artistic avant-gardes.
The Zoologic Park of Barcelona is located in the Citadel Park. It has one of the largest animal collections in Europe. For many years, it was the home of Snowflake, the only known albino gorilla. The zoo also shelters an extensive collection of primate species, all of them endangered, and a collection of marmosets, the world’s smallest monkeys and the group of bottlenose dolphins and their daily fantastic performances. The zoo facilities include a restaurant, a picnic area, the Zoo shop, electric cars, ponies and an electric train to visit the park at your leisure. Getting to Les Rambles is very easy taking the Metro green line from Maria Cristina station, just a few minutes away from our cheap accommodation hostel in Barcelona, until Plaça Catalunya station. Les Rambles is a 1.2 kilometer-long tree-lined pedestrian mall with lots of flower, birds and newsstand stalls as well as street performers. As you walk down, you will find the Teatre del Liceu (opera house), the Boqueria Market or the Plaça Reial (Royal Square) with palm trees and arcade buildings where cafés and restaurants are established. As you approach the harbour, you will find street art markets and painters or caricaturists. To put it briefly, Les Rambles is an area where you can find culture, entertainment and restaurants.
If you want to visit the skyscraper designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, you just have to take route 7 bus, from the Pere Tarrés Hostel until Glòries. Once there, you can observe the 145 meters building which is the headquarters for many business offices including Aigües de Barcelona (AGBAR). The building’s elliptic shape and the windows on the facade are some of the elements that attract the visitor’s attention. You can’t come back to the hostel until dusk, when the 4,500 LEDs turn on and reflect images on the tower’s façade.
